Senior Automation Engineer (Photonics Semiconductor Testing)

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer with experience in measurement automation and semiconductor testing, who will take the lead in developing advanced hardware systems for the electro-optic characterization of our photonics integrated circuit devices. In this role, you will be the main responsible for the design, equipment selection, assembly, automation, and continuous performance validation of new test systems, together with a dynamic team of engineers, researchers, and technicians.

To ensure that the performance of our products can be fully qualified according to specifications, you will also work closely with colleagues from our testing, chip development, reliability, and packaging teams, and support the implementation of new electro-optic test procedures on these systems.

Responsibilities

  • Take the lead of the development of the Lumiphase’s testing core SW framework, improving the scalability from a prototyping phase to production for different test platforms.
  • Coach the SW dev team organizing and moderating the weekly meetings.
  • Define SW development guidelines and improve the SW Quality Management.
  • Write software for equipment integration and automation of test systems, ensuring a standardized software architecture across different setups (new and existing).
  • Plan and manage projects related to automation and continuous validation of characterization setups and measurement procedures.
  • Document test setups and measurements, making sure the generated measurement data is tightly integrated into Lumiphase’s data infrastructure.
  • Support the development and implementation of test procedures for product verification and qualification.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience (3+ years) in the SW development of Automated Test Equipment for electrical or electro-optical characterization (including script-based automated motion control, machine vision, data acquisition,…), ideally in an industrial environment.
  • Experience in the development of SW framework integrating multiple GIT repositories for instruments drivers, test automation, data preparation and analysis, data visualization and reporting.
  • Good knowledge in CI/CD pipeline automation and Software Quality Management (ISTQB certification is a plus).
  • Very good programming skills (e.g. Python, C#, etc.) and understanding of object-oriented programming
  • Creative, motivated, critical thinking, and hands-on attitude with the drive to tackle hard challenges in a team.
  • Good organizational skills to plan and execute according to greater project timelines.
  • Strong team-working and communication skills, ability to lead technical development and coach the team.

Interview process

Our recruitment process consists of three stages:

  1. 30 min phone interview with our People & Culture team member to discuss your general career motivations, and present our company and this role.
  2. 1-1.5 hour phone interview with 1-2 members of the hiring team to deep dive into the core skills requirements.
  3. An on-site visit to interview with and meet many members of the team that you would be working in. This often includes lunch and gives you a strong sense of the company culture and individuals.

Then, both parties make their decisions! We aim to complete all steps in one month but also allow for modifications to ensure both sides have a full picture of the skills and culture match to take the decision in an informed way.
